This track was sent into Mixing It by John Pallas of Athens. In the words of its composer, Yiorgis Sakellariou: ’The tracks are digital representations of surrounding noises and continuous – barely audible or extremely loud – sounds of urban life. The emotional feedback brings out sonic memories and post-modern dreams…or nightmares…’ The album uses software called Audiomulch, and the tracks are recorded in real time, not sequenced. This track features a vocal improvisation recorded by one of Yiorgis' friends while she was holidaying on a Greek island.

This comes from the fifth album by Ronald Lippok (To Rococo Rot) and Bernd Jestram. It's a cover version of a tune by the Belgian/Israeli post-punk band Minimal Compact, and features Matthias Kuhl (trombone) and Jule Böwe (backing vocals).

Colditz is the name James Chapman from Glasgow records under. This new album is only available as a free, high quality download (see web addresses below). The artwork will be available in this way too. All James asks for is a gift in return: postage stamps, book tokens, a hand blender, a second hand bike, train tickets to various places, a Yurt, somewhere to stay on holiday, more RAM for his computer, some double bass strings or plane tickets to New Zealand, or donations towards further recordings.

Dr. Syntax’n’CB Turbo v Rivethead: Army of Me (3.30)
Björk has released this album of cover versions and remixes of her song Army of Me to raise money for Unicef. Together with the song's co-writer, Graham Massey, she whittled over 600 tracks down to the 20 which appear. This one is the work of Syntax'n'Turbo, aka Tom Haines and Chris Branch and Pascal Wyse, aka Rivethead. It's described as 'some much needed electro-morris'.

Originally released in 1976, this album was based around the Balinese scale used in gamelan music, and featured the cream of British jazz players at the time under the direction of the late Neil Ardley (1937-2004)

Andy Creeggan: Izzy (aka Foups) (2.27)
Andy Creeggan was a member of the huge-selling Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies. After the release of their second album, he went back to college, studying music at Montréal's McGill University. This track, actually called Foups, but erroneously listed on the album as Izzy, is based on an 'excitable' fictional character created by the composer.

Beck: Qué Onda Guero (3.28)
When growing up in a predominantly Hispanic area of LA, Beck was often called 'Guero', loosely meaning 'white boy', hence the title of this album. It sees him reunited with the Dust Brothers, who helped make 1996's Odelay such a success.

The Books are from North Adams, Massachusetts; this is their third album; their main instruments are cello, guitar, mandolin and banjo, but they also use a number of found sounds and samples. This album, for example, uses unmarked tapes bought from Salvation Army centres across America.
