Privacy Notice
Your trust is very important to us. The ĢƵ is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.
It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.
Additional information can be found in the ĢƵ’s . Where there is inconsistency between those documents and this notice, this notice shall prevail.
What will we collect and how we use it?
The ĢƵ will collect and process the personal information that you have provided to us about yourself by entering this competition. This personal information is your name, age (if asked to ensure eligibility criteria are met), postal address (from winners in order to fulfil the competition) and your telephone number. The personal information that you will provide will be processed for the purposes of running this competition, including fulfilment.
The ĢƵ is the “data controller” of this information. This means that the ĢƵ decides what your personal information is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. Broadcast Bionics is the ĢƵ’s data processor and is contracted to the ĢƵ to provide the radio station’s telephony platform. Broadcast Bionics can only use your personal data within the parameters set by the ĢƵ. We rely on our legitimate interests of running radio competitions like this as our lawful basis for processing your personal data – providing interesting and engaging radio programming for those that participate and to the wider audience listening in and we do not believe it is an unreasonable infringement on the rights and freedoms of the individual ĢƵ audience members
Retaining your personal information
In relation to entrants, the ĢƵ will retain your personal information for up to six weeks. Winners’ information will be kept for a period of two years for regulatory purposes.
Sharing your personal information
We will not share your personal data with any other third party outside of the ĢƵ and Broadcast Bionics without your prior consent.

Terms & Conditions
1. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, aged 16 or over, except ĢƵ or ĢƵ Group company employees and anyone connected with the competition. Proof of age and eligibility may be requested.
2. The competition will be played during the ĢƵ Radio Solent Alun Newman and Lou Hannan morning programme on Monday to Friday (except when editorial requirements lead to a change in schedule or a change in programme content).
3. During each programme there will be a round of the competition. Each time listeners will be invited to call in to register to play. The entry window will be open for around 10 minutes – the opening and closing times will vary so please listen to announcements during the programme.
4. Listeners can enter by calling 0808 100 3800 (calls are free from landlines and mobiles). You may enter once per round of the competition – any additional entries or calls outside this window will not count.
5. For each round one entrant will be selected at random from those who registered to play, a member of the production team will call them back so they can be put live on air to play the on-air quiz.
6. Once the entrant has chosen one of the categories offered, they will be given 60 seconds to correctly guess as many of the items from the category described by the presenter. A weekly scoreboard will be kept of those who played the game on air. The highest scoring entrant each week will win the prize. In addition an entrant will also win a prize if they score 10 (or more). This is in addition to the weekly winner. (updated on 2nd May 2019)
7. Entrants must ensure that they are available on the telephone number provided to take the call from the production team. If an entrant is not available after reasonable attempts by the production team, another correct entrant will be randomly selected for that round of the quiz. There are contingencies for ties.
8. The prize is a ĢƵ Radio Solent Bag For Life.
9. The ĢƵ’s decision as to prizes awarded is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
10. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances.
11. The ĢƵ reserves the right to: (i) amend these terms and conditions; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules or has acted fraudulently in any way; and (iii) disqualify an entrant or winner, withdraw or substitute any prize, should any entrant or winner at any stage exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behaviour (including, but not limited to being under the influence of alcohol, chemical substances or causing a nuisance) before or whilst on air.
12. Entrants must agree to take part in any post-competition publicity if required.
13. Winners may no re-enter the competition for a week.
14. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when registering.
15. The ĢƵ, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered.
16. To the extent permitted by law, the ĢƵ will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.
17. The promoter of the competition is the British Broadcasting Corporation and the applicable law is the laws of England and Wales.
