Completed in the dying days of the Second World War, Stravinsky鈥檚 Symphony in Three Movements offers a 鈥榗inematographic impression of the war鈥� 鈥� jagged and convulsively rhythmic. Moving 鈥榝rom austerity to the affirmation of life鈥�, Bart贸k鈥檚 1943 Concerto for Orchestra responds more optimistically to war, defiant in its folk-inspired melodies and collective virtuosity.
