The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Philharmonic performs Sibelius, Reger, Ives and Antheil

John StorgÃ¥rds conducts today’s concert, a captivating programme that includes Sibelius, Reger, Ives and Antheil, with baritone and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ New Generation Artist Benjamin Appl.

Sibelius’s The Tempest- Overture, written as incidental music for Shakespeare's play gets things off to an invigorating start.

Then, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ New Generation Artist, Benjamin Appl, joins the orchestra to perform Hymnus die Liebe by Reger.
At the centre of the concert is The Unanswered Question- one of Charles Ives best known pieces.
The concert concludes with Antheil’s Symphony no.4, "1942"- a moving piece that reflects wartime anxieties.

This concert is a live broadcast for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Radio 3.
