The Guild Hall used to be the city’s Town Hall, but during the 1800s the city began to outgrow it. An old cattle market was cleared for a new ambitious new building off Horsefair Street. It was opened on the 7th August 1876. Since then, it’s seen action as Leicester Crown Court, a seat of local government, and even been the target of an unexploded bomb in World War 2. City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby gave Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Leicester’s Ady Dayman a guided tour.
