Afternoon tea, that most quintessential of English customs is, perhaps surprisingly, a relatively new tradition. It all started in the 1800's when Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford who, at the time was a close friend of Queen Victoria and a prominent figure within London society complained of "having that sinking feeling" during the late afternoon. And it's a tradition that thousands of us continue to enjoy to this day. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Radio Leicester reporter Sara Palmer talks to Sukh Johal, owner of Cafe Prana in Leicester City centre, on why he wanted to offer a purely vegan or gluten free afternoon tea experience for his customers.
