Mozambique is bracing for a second assault from Cyclone Freddy. The storm system which began off the north west coast of Australia, on February 6, is on course to break the record for the longest running cyclone according to meteorologists. That's because it's been spinning for a month for more than 8,000 km (5,000 miles) and has rapidly intensified six times. Anne-Claire Fontan - Scientific Officer on the Tropical Cyclone Programme at the World Meteorological Organization - told ĢƵ Newsday it is a remarkable system. “Freddy is a very dangerous cyclone. It is expected to reach an intense category. It has a remarkable amount of… accumulated cyclone energy. It’s crossed completely the Southern Indian Ocean.
