Firefighters in Greece, France, Portugal and Spain are still tackling blazes spanning thousands of hectares. In Spain, more than 200,000 hectares of land has burnt in 2026 - roughly five times above the average by this point in the year - while the burnt land in Portugal is also higher than usual, EU data shows.

Also in the programme: How police in the UK are trying to divert teen hackers away from crime; the American singer Natalie Merchant on the importance of art education for children; and the scientist trying to save coffee from extinction.

Joining Krupa Padhy on the programme's panel are Dr Chandrika Kaul, a Prof in Modern History at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, and Laurie Bristow, president of Hughes Hall, a college at Cambridge University and former UK ambassador to Afghanistan and Russia.
