Martin Lewis on fixing energy rates
Speaking to on his 5 Live podcast, alongside Adrian Chiles, Martin said that there were already savings to be made now – but with the energy price cap expected to rise in April, it’s unlikely that consumers who fixed at the best rates now would lose out later in the year.
“The cheapest fix available right now, if you take everything into account, is 7% cheaper than the current price cap,” he said, before adding, “you would need a really big, seismic shifts in worldwide wholesale rates – probably we’re talking sort of world recession-type levels, before it’s going to get that much cheaper that the fixes you’re seeing.”
