Prokofiev was an extremely accomplished pianist - he was the soloist for the first performance of his Third Piano Concerto in Chicago in 1921. He wrote most of the work in France, making use of fragments and themes which he had jotted down over several years. It is a famously difficult concerto, requiring enormous stamina and dexterity. Yuja Wang joins the Berlin Philharmonic and Kirill Petrenko.
