Anaemia: 'It can affect women at any stage of their life'
The results of a worldwide study of anaemia found that it was a major cause of death in women who were pregnant or who had recently given birth. Iron deficiency is the world’s most common nutritional deficiency. It also affects more women than men. Dr Janhavi Daru is a specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynaecology at Queen Mary, University of London and was the lead author of the research.
