Kieran is 13 years old. Bernadette, Kieran’s mum, says, “When Kieran was born I felt my life was complete. Every moment with him was absolutely wonderful.” At 18 months old Kieran wasn’t waving or babbling like other children and he was diagnosed with Autism. Kieran’s form of autism means he doesn’t use words to communicate and needs full time one to one care.
Kieran has been going to the Log Cabin for 9 years. The Log Cabin is a place for disabled children or those with additional needs mix with others. It’s somewhere to play and make friends regardless of ability. “Log Cabin is a place where there are no barriers, it gives children an opportunity to thrive. To enjoy. To socialise ” says Krystyne, a play worker funded by ĢƵ Children in Need. “The atmosphere at Log Cabin is wonderful. It’s like walking into a hug.” Bernadette describes.
Bernadette says, “Krystyne is very special and Kieran thinks so too.”
