Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump鈥檚 call to halt Muslims entering the US 鈥渄e-legitimise him鈥�, according to a spokesperson for Republicans Overseas.

Kate Andrews told the Today programme that even those people who felt Mr Trump was 鈥渟ticking it to the man鈥� would feel he had 鈥済one too far鈥� with the latest controversy.

In a campaign statement, Mr Trump said a "total and complete" shutdown should remain until the US authorities "can figure out" Muslim attitudes to the US.

鈥淚鈥檓 pleased to report that less and less people are associating with his views,鈥� Ms Andrews told presenter Nick Robinson.
