Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ

This specially curated programme features a trio of pieces, all inspired by the wonders of the sky. To open, Richard Strauss’s powerhouse symphonic poem, made famous by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. This masterpiece of orchestral splendour envelops the Royal Albert Hall, performed by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Philharmonic under the baton of John StorgÃ¥rds.

Judith Weir’s ethereal Moon and Star follows swiftly, a stunning musical interpretation of Emily Dickinson’s poem of the same name, performed by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Symphony Orchestra, the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Singers and Ryan Wigglesworth. The hall lights up in a choral cloud, evoking the night sky.

Finishing with a debut performance by the Spanish National Orchestra, Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso is brought to the Royal Albert Hall under the watchful eye of conductor David Afkham, bringing Spanish flare to round off this programme.
