This performance of Mahler's epic 'Resurrection' Symphony brings together nearly 300 musicians, each striving to take us on a journey which encompasses not just everything in this world, but gives us a clear vision of the one beyond. "Auferstehen" ("Rise from the dead") insists the choir at the climax of the work, that after an hour's rollercoaster of emotions, embracing the religious and secular, dance and stillness, absolute focus and imaginative spatial effects. Mahler uses his orchestra in unique ways to create an all-embracing and immersive experience that takes us from death to a new life.
