This week from Monday to Thursday, Soweto invites South African pianist and composer Nduduzo Makhathini as his 4/4 guest. Nduduzo is a leading voice in South African jazz, blending Zulu spiritual traditions with improvisation and storytelling. Born in umGungundlovu, his music reflects a deep connection between sound, ritual, and healing in African philosophy.

To begin his week on 4/4, Nduduzo selects a totemic album in jazz that has deeply influenced him.

There is also music from Raffy Bushman, Cleo Laine and Ana Carla Maza.
