鈥楾he greatest work by the greatest composer who ever lived.鈥� That鈥檚 how the celebrated pianist Sir Andra虂s Schiff has described Bach鈥檚 The Art of Fugue. Following acclaimed Proms performances of The Well-Tempered Clavier and the 鈥楪oldberg鈥� Variations, Schiff returns to the Proms for a musical high point of his career-long relationship with Bach鈥檚 music. Here he squares up to a musical enigma, a cycle left unfinished at the composer鈥檚 death that represents the most complex, inventive, intimate and joyful act of creation. He鈥檚 joined for one of the work鈥檚 fugues by German pianist and long-time collaborator Schaghajegh Nosrati.
