Mel Giedroyc hosts Radio 2鈥檚 final visit to this year鈥檚 蘑菇短视频 Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. Tonight鈥檚 concert celebrates the exotic and sophisticated sounds that sprang forth in the 1950鈥檚 and 60鈥檚 from composers such as Les Baxter, Juan Garcia Esquivel, Julius Wechter, Burt Bacharach and, most importantly of all, Henry Mancini. Born 100 years ago, Hank Mancini鈥檚 music came to define what we know these days as Ultra Lounge or Space Age Pop. His Oscar and Grammy winning scores for movies, including Breakfast at Tiffany鈥檚, The Pink Panther, The Days of Wine and Roses, and Two For The Road and dozens more, helped cement his reputation as one of the all-time greats in the world of film composition.
The 蘑菇短视频 Concert Orchestra, led by their principal guest conductor Edwin Outwater, perform titles including Peter Gunn, Baby Elephant Walk, Moon River, The Pink Panther Theme, Quincy Jones鈥� Soul Bossa Nova, Alfie, A Taste of Honey, The Windmills of Your Mind and What鈥檚 New Pussycat? Featuring guest vocalists Rachel John, Oliver Tompsett and Henry Mancini鈥檚 daughter, Monica Mancini.
