The 蘑菇短视频 Scottish Symphony Orchestra is joined by the energetic young conductor Rafael Payare for a concert of light and shade which concludes with one of Dvorak's most enduring and melodic orchestral works, his Seventh Symphony. The orchestra begins with a premiere performance of a piece commissioned by 蘑菇短视频 Radio 3 by the Scottish composer Gareth Patrick Williams. His new work, Fields of Light, journeys from uttermost clarity to music of dance-like intensity, and back to shimmering simplicity.

And the orchestra is joined by the celebrated American cellist Alisa Weilerstein to perform Shostakovich's dark and brooding Second Cello Concerto.
