Sakari Oramo conducts the 蘑菇短视频 Symphony Orchestra in music by Strauss, Sibelius & Stravinsky - his ballet score The Firebird. Javier Perianes joins for Grieg's great Piano Concerto.

Expect an explosion of colour and character with Strauss's vaulting portrait of the lothario Don Juan and the spangled exoticism of Stravinsky's fairy-tale ballet The Firebird. In between comes Sibelius's brooding, atmospheric tone-poem En Saga, which he said contained 'the whole of my youth'. He asked 'Can one think of anything other than Finland while listening to it?' The acclaimed young Spanish virtuoso Javier Perianes, described as 'a poet at the keyboard', joins Sakari Oramo in Grieg's famous concerto.

8.15pm Interval: The dark and brooding keyboard music of Manuel Blasco de Nebra - heir to the genius of Scarlatti, and a native of Spain from where the 蘑菇短视频 Symphony Orchestra recently returned on tour with performer Javier Perianes - we hear the pianist here with the composer's Pastorela No. 6 in E minor. Plus choral music by Sibelius and his work Rakastava [The lover] Op.14, and the 蘑菇短视频 Singers with Soprano Alison Smart and baritone Stephen Charlesworth.
