Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Day is back for its fifth year on Thursday, and across the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ there will be special broadcasts celebrating the power of music to inspire and change lives. Here are 9 things to look out for across the day.

Blue Peter Music Badge

As announced on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio 2, Blue Peter has launched its very first music badge, designed by the inimitable Ed Sheeran. Also on the show is Sir Paul McCartney, a live performance from Becky Hill, and the programme is guest edited by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio 1’s Maya Jama. Make sure you’re watching CÄ¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ from 5:30pm on Thursday for this unmissable musical special!

Lewis Capaldi Live

He spent seven weeks at Number One in the UK singles chart earlier in the year, and now for the finale of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio 1’s Live Lounge month Lewis Capaldi has performed with a symphony orchestra. Listen on Radio 1 from midday on Thursday with Clara Amfo, or watch in full from 11:25pm on Friday on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ One.

We're encouraging school children across the UK to get singing for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Day. Absolutely no practice or experience is required, and with over 1300 signed up and just under 300,000 children taking part it’s going to be loud! Expect plenty of it this year for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Day, with Professor Green taking over the weather with Carol Kirkwood on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Breakfast on Thursday, four teams of musical icons going head to head in a special edition of Pointless Celebrities on Saturday night, and the Music Day Bargain Hunt special returns, with The Darkness taking on Feeder this year from 12:15pm on Thursday on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ One.

Get your headphones on and indulge in original content for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Day on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Sounds. Pop star Freya Ridings has curated a wellbeing mix featuring songs old and new, and the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Introducing Hot List features some of the best talent from the next generation of stars.

Music & Dementia

Following Nile Rodgers’ launch of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Music Day’s Music & Dementia initiative in July, aiming to bring music to all those living with dementia by 2020, over 100 organisations are putting on over 800 events across the UK to celebrate and demonstrate the power music can have for those living with dementia.
