 Paul Schlesinger interview
Paul is the Head of Radio Entertainment and is responsible for all in-house comedy and entertainment programmes on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ national radio, from established favourites such as Just A Minute to developing the talents of unfledged performers and writers.
Paul has been long involved in encouraging new talent and his successes as a producer span both radio and television.
What is Show Me the Funny all about?
It's a nationwide trawl for new writers on the one hand and writer performers on the other. We wanted to reinvigorate the flow of new writing in comedy in general. Ìý
What's so special about writing comedy for radio?
Radio's a fantastic medium for comedy partly because it's relatively quick to
make...and you get to work in very small teams. Ìý
What are you looking for?
We want people to go out there and really think about their original voice. Specifically
we are looking for people who can take something quite ordinary and give it
a little twist, a little comic tic at the end of it.
