Roles and responsibilities

  • As Director of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Scotland, Hayley is responsible for Scotland’s editorial strategy, and delivery of content across all platforms and services in both English and Gaelic. This includes leading teams across the country, where the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ operates from 14 centres, producing an extensive portfolio of programming to serve audiences in Scotland and beyond.
  • Hayley also engages with stakeholders across Scotland, both in terms of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµâ€™s accountability to our audience and to ensure the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ meets its economic and creative sector public purposes in the nation.

Biography

Hayley was appointed Director of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Scotland in November 2024.

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Hayley worked as a journalist at DC Thomson and Radio Forth before joining the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in 1996. Since then, she has held a variety of roles including Executive Editor of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ One’s Question Time, Director of Current Affairs at Mentorn Media, Head of News at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio 5 Live, Head of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News’ radio newsroom and Launch Editor of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Scotland’s The Nine.

Prior to Hayley taking on her current responsibilities, she was Senior Head of Content Production for the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in the Midlands, leading the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµâ€™s local services for radio, TV and online across the West and East Midlands.

  • £190,000 - £194,999

Expenses and central bookings

Expenses are costs incurred by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ staff on behalf of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ and claimed through the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ's expenses system.

Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ and booked through the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ's central bookings system.
