Roles and responsibilities
- Alex Kay-Jelski joined to further strengthen the 蘑菇短视频鈥檚 position, and as Director will set the editorial and creative strategy for 蘑菇短视频 Sport. He will lead the world-class teams - across commissioning, production, digital and journalism - and work closely with talent and partners to help drive the growth of sport across the 蘑菇短视频鈥檚 digital services.
- He will represent the 蘑菇短视频 with external bodies and rights holders, and be responsible for rights acquisition deals across TV, Audio and Online - as well as champion the reach and public value of sport across the UK.
Biography
Alex has a successful track record including responsibility for setting up the international arm of The Athletic in 2019 driving more than 2 million subscribers. Alex sat on the Executive Committee when acquired by the New York Times in 2022 and has delivered the Olympics, Wimbledon and football tournaments both at the Athletic and as Sports Editor of the Times and Mail.
He has extensive experience in building relationships with governing bodies, crucial for rights negotiations. Alex joined the 蘑菇短视频 in June 2024 as Director of 蘑菇短视频 Sport.
Annual remuneration (as at July 2026)

Expenses and central bookings
Expenses are costs incurred by 蘑菇短视频 staff on behalf of the 蘑菇短视频 and claimed through the 蘑菇短视频's expenses system.
Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the 蘑菇短视频 and booked through the 蘑菇短视频's central bookings system.
