Can I use Ģ��Ƶ Sounds with my Sonos device?

We have released a version of Ģ��Ƶ Sounds on the Sonos platform, meaning you’ll be able to listen on your Sonos device via the Sonos S2 controller app.

This means that both iOS and Android users can now get a full, personalised Ģ��Ƶ Sounds experience on their Sonos speakers.

To enable Ģ��Ƶ Sounds on Sonos, open the Sonos app on your device, then:

Tap on 'Settings'
Tap on 'Services and Voice'
Scroll down to the bottom and tap on 'Add a service'
Scroll until you find Ģ��Ƶ Sounds and tap 'Add'
Connect your Ģ��Ƶ account with your Sonos account
That's it!

Search for Ģ��Ƶ content using Sonos search
'Star' (favourite) certain elements so they appear on your My Sonos homescreen (for example, Listen Live, Continue Listening, Recommended For You)

You can also use Sonos on desktop by installing the Sonos desktop application. Choose 'Select a Music Source,' then 'Add Music Services' to find Ģ��Ƶ Sounds.

At the moment, Ģ��Ƶ Sounds is available on the Sonos controller app within the UK only.

If you are in the UK and unable to find the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds service on the Sonos app, your account may not be registered to the UK. You can find out how to check this on the Sonos Help Site.

You can use your Amazon Alexa device to listen to Ģ��Ƶ local news and Ģ��Ƶ’s Nations services for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. You can also set Ģ��Ƶ as your default news update and choose from 3 of the Ģ��Ƶ content types to add to your flash briefings. If you have linked your Ģ��Ƶ account you can ask for local news by saying “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds for local news.”

Can I use Ģ��Ƶ Sounds with my Apple Siri device?

Ģ��Ƶ Sounds is not currently available via voice commands on Apple Ģ��ƵPod or Apple TV.

However, if you have the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, you can use the AirPlay feature to stream Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to your Apple Ģ��ƵPod or Apple TV. This feature is not supported from an Android device.

Ģ��Ƶ Sounds listeners on iOS mobile devices running iOS version 12.2 or higher can use Siri shortcuts to access Ģ��Ƶ Sounds. You can create custom shortcuts to launch live radio via the Siri Shortcuts app.

How do I link my Ģ��Ƶ account to the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill on Alexa?

It’s quick and easy to link your Ģ��Ƶ account to the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill on Alexa. Follow this handy step by step guide for tips.

Before you start

To listen to live radio and other Ģ��Ƶ Sounds content on Alexa you’ll need to be in the UK.
You will need to have the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill enabled on your Alexa device, and have a Ģ��Ƶ account. If you don’t have an account, you can register for a Ģ��Ƶ account here.
Make sure you’re using the Amazon profile that you want your Ģ��Ƶ account linked to. You can do this by saying “Alexa, who am I?” If you’re on the wrong profile, say “Alexa, switch profile” or “Alexa, switch to [your first name]’s profile.”

How do I enable the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill?

Just say, “Alexa, open Ģ��Ƶ Sounds” to your Alexa device. Your device will then ask if you’d like to enable the skill - say "yes" to proceed.

Make sure you’re on the correct adult Amazon profile before connecting your Ģ��Ƶ account

To do this say "Alexa, Who am I?" If you’re on the wrong account say "Alexa, switch account."
If you are still being asked to sign in after linking and signing into your Ģ��Ƶ account, make sure you are on the correct Amazon household profile and that the profile is linked to your Ģ��Ƶ account. Make sure the device is setup with your Amazon household profile.

There are four ways to link your Ģ��Ƶ account to the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill on Alexa:

Link your Ģ��Ƶ account using a notification on your phone.
Link your Ģ��Ƶ account using the QR code on your Echo device with a screen.
Link your Ģ��Ƶ account using the prompt on your Alexa app homescreen.
Link your Ģ��Ƶ account using the Alexa app skill page.

Link your Ģ��Ƶ account using a notification on your phone

Step 1
Open the skill on your Echo device by saying, "Alexa, open Ģ��Ƶ Sounds." If you have notifications enabled from the Alexa app you will receive an account linking notification to your device.

Check your phone for a notification sent from Amazon Alexa. Tap this notification to be taken to the Alexa app.

Step 3

You’ll need a smart phone, and an Echo device with a screen. Scanning the QR code below will get you started, or follow detailed steps beneath the image.

Step 1
Open the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill on your Echo by saying, "Alexa, open Ģ��Ƶ Sounds." A QR code will appear.

Step 2
Open your phone’s camera and point it at your Echo’s screen. Then tap on the notification that appears. This will open the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds skill account linking page within the Alexa app.

Step 3
Tap on ‘Link Account’ then tap ‘Continue’ to move onto the next step.

Step 4
Enter the email address and password for your Ģ��Ƶ account, then tap ‘Sign in’. If you don’t have a Ģ��Ƶ account, simply tap on the ‘Register now’ link, and follow the steps to create one.

To get started, say "Alexa, open Ģ��Ƶ Sounds." When prompted, ask for the name of the live radio station, programme, podcast or music mix that you want to listen to.

If you’re using an Alexa device with a screen, like an Echo Show, you’ll also see the screen shown below. From here, you can browse and play content through additional options like Radio, Music, Podcasts, and Your Listening History.

To browse through the list, swipe left or right on the screen with your finger, or say “Alexa, scroll left,” or “Alexa, scroll right.”
To select an item in the list, simply tap it, or when prompted, say the name of the item you want to browse, for example “Alexa, browse music.”
Each item is also numbered, for example “Browse Radio” is item ‘1’ in the list, you can select this item by saying, “Alexa, select the first item.”

Live Radio

You can now restart, rewind, and fast-forward radio shows on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds Alexa skill.

The Ģ��Ƶ Sounds Alexa skill now gives you the ability to rewind and fast-forward radio, or restart the show you’re listening to. Ģ��Ƶ Sounds is the only radio provider in the UK to offer this functionality.

How to play live radio

To start playing live radio say, "Alexa, play [live radio station]." For example, "Alexa, play 6 Music” or "Alexa, play Radio 2.”

How to find out what's playing on live radio

To find out what song or programme is currently playing on a live station say, "Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds what's playing."
If you're listening to a rewound stream, you can say "Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds what's playing" to find out the station and show you're currently listening to.

How to restart live radio

Love The Archers but missed the start on Radio 4? No problem, just say, “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to restart,” and we’ll take you to the start of the show.

How to rewind live radio

Listening to Radio 2 and missed Ten To The Top? “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to rewind to 10.30am.”
Asked for Radio 1 just as your favourite song is ending? “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to rewind 3 minutes.”
And if you’ve just missed a goal on 5 Live, “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to rewind” will rewind one minute.

How to fast-forward or return to live radio

You can fast-forward by using the corresponding requests, for example “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to fast-forward to 9.30pm / 5 minutes.”
And when you’re ready to listen live again, just say, “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to return to live.”

How to pause and resume live radio

You can also pause and resume live streams by saying "Alexa, pause" and "Alexa, resume."

How to browse and play Ģ��Ƶ live radio on a screened Alexa device

If you’re using an Alexa device with a screen, such as an Echo Show, you can also browse and play Ģ��Ƶ live radio stations in additional ways. To begin, say: “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to browse radio.” The screen shown below will then appear, allowing you to explore Ģ��Ƶ live radio stations and see what’s currently on air. Your last listened to station will appear at the start of the rail for easier access.

To browse through the list, swipe left or right on the screen with your finger, or say “Alexa, scroll left,” or “Alexa, scroll right.”
To play an item in the list, simply tap it, or when prompted, say the name of the station you want to hear, for example, “Alexa, play Radio 1.”

What is 'Send a Comment'?

'Send a Comment' allows you to send a comment to any Ģ��Ƶ radio station from your Alexa device.

To send a comment to the Ģ��Ƶ radio station you’re listening to say, “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to send a comment.”
To send a comment to a different Ģ��Ƶ radio station say, “Alexa, ask Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to send a comment to [station name].”

How do I set up an Alexa Routine?

Wake up with Ģ��Ƶ Sounds. Routines are a great way to fit Ģ��Ƶ content into your daily activities. Wake up at the same time each day to your favourite radio station, catch up with the news at lunchtime, or hear the latest episode of your favourite podcast when you say a specific phrase.

Ready-made routines to try

Tune in to morning radio using these routines…

6:00am – Wake up to Radio 4 [add this routine]
6:30am - Wake up to Radio 2 [add this routine]
7:30am - Wake up to Radio 1 [add this routine]

You can customise each of these routines when you add them.

How to use these routines...

On a mobile phone, tap ‘Add this routine’. On any other device, click ‘Add this routine’, then use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code that appears on screen.
The Alexa app will open. Tap the ‘View routine’ button.
Confirm the actions when prompted.
Customise it if you want to.
Select the device you want the content to play from, then tap ‘Save’.

How to set up your own Ģ��Ƶ routines

Open the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device.
Tap the three horizontal lines in the bottom navigation bar.
Tap ‘Routines’.
Tap ‘+’ in the top right-hand corner.
Name your routine.
Tap ‘Add an event’ (when do you want the routine to run?). The trigger can be a time, or something you say.
Tap ‘Add an action’ (what do you want Alexa to do when the routine runs?). Choose the action type ‘Customised’, and type in what you’d like to happen, for example, “Play Radio 2”, “Play Ģ��Ƶ News”, or “Play All Day Chill Mix”.
Tap ‘Save’.
