Does the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds TV app have a screensaver?

The Ģ��Ƶ Sounds TV app has a screensaver feature which will prevent screen burn on your TV when the app is left running for a long period of time.

The screensaver will kick in after five minutes of inactivity. Depending on what you're doing when it starts up, you'll either see the programme you're playing, recommended programmes or the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds logo.

The screensaver will slowly move. It might not be noticeable but don’t worry, it’s enough to protect your screen!

Why doesn't the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app have an alarm clock function?

We decided not to bring this feature to the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app. App alarms are difficult to make reliable and we feel we should be focusing our development on other features.

Fortunately, alarm clocks are available on all smart phones. If you need help with using the alarm on your device, the following links may prove helpful:

In the future, we hope to work with Apple and Google to enable Sounds to integrate better with the alarm clocks built into their operating systems.

Using an Apple device? You can use Apple’s Shortcuts app to set a Ģ��Ƶ radio station to play via Ģ��Ƶ Sounds when you switch off your alarm in the morning. Check the Can I use the iOS Shortcuts app to wake up to Ģ��Ƶ Sounds? page for details on how to set up this shortcut.

Yes, you can. The Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app makes it possible to find information about a programme while it's playing live, or before it's broadcast.

How can I find information about a live programme?

Start playing a live programme on the app
Tap on the programme's name. This will bring you to the episode page.
Scroll down to see information about that episode

How can I find information about an upcoming programme?

On the Ģ��Ƶ screen, tap 'See All Stations & Schedules' and then tap the calendar next to the relevant station
Scroll down to the upcoming programme and tap on it. This will bring you to the episode page.
Scroll down to see information about that episode

You can also subscribe to that programme before it's broadcast by tapping 'Subscribe.'

Can I use the iOS Shortcuts app to wake up to Ģ��Ƶ Sounds?

Yes! You can use Apple's Shortcuts app to set your favourite Ģ��Ƶ radio station to play via Ģ��Ƶ Sounds when you switch off your alarm in the morning.

The iOS alarm is guaranteed to go off and wake you up with the sound you set in the Alarm app, even if the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app isn't open and your device's display is switched off.

The shortcuts suggested for you will depend on how you use your phone or iPad. So if you regularly listen to Radio 6 Music on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app, you'll see a suggested shortcut to listen live to Radio 6 Music. To add a different shortcut, follow the steps below.

How can I wake up to Ģ��Ƶ Sounds?

Open the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app and Listen to the station you’d like to connect to your alarm
Open the Shortcuts app and select the 'Automation' tab. On iPads, this option can be found by selecting the menu icon on the top left of the Shortcuts app.
Tap 'New Automation'
Under 'Personal Automation,' select 'Alarm'
Make sure 'Is Stopped' is ticked and then select the alarm you want Ģ��Ƶ Sounds to start playing after
Tap 'Next,' then select 'Play music' from the options on screen
Search for 'Ģ��Ƶ Sounds' and choose the station you would like to start playing once the alarm is switched off
Select 'Done' to set up the shortcut.

Now when you switch off your alarm in the morning, your favourite station will start to play via Ģ��Ƶ Sounds.

How do I bookmark episodes to listen to later?

Found an episode or clip you'd like to listen to later? Bookmark it so you can go back to it when you're ready.

If you need help removing bookmarks, have a look here

On the website

Find the programme that you're interested in and view the episode list. You'll find the option to Bookmark each episode under the image and title.

If you'd like to read more about the episode before deciding to bookmark, simply click on the title. On the full episode page, you'll also see the option to bookmark.

Bookmarked episodes and programmes will appear in the Bookmarks section within My Sounds or at the bottom of the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds homepage.

On the mobile/tablet app

Tap on the episode you want to add to Bookmarks
Tap 'More,' then tap 'Bookmark episode'

You'll find the episode in the Bookmarks section of My Sounds. You might need to pull down the screen to refresh the page before the newly-bookmarked programme appears.

On the TV app

Select the programme
Choose 'More Info' next to the episode you want to bookmark
Select '+Bookmark'

You'll find the episode in the Bookmarks section of My Sounds.

1. Head to the Bookmarks section of My Sounds or to the bookmarked episode in question
2. Select the episode you would like to remove from Bookmarks
3. Click on the 'Bookmarked' button to remove the episode
On the mobile/tablet app
1. Head to the My Sounds section
2. Tap 'Bookmarks'
3. Find the episode you want to remove
4. Swipe it to the left, then tap 'Remove'
5. You can also tap 'Edit' in the top right corner, then tap 'X' next to the episode you want to remove
On the TV app
1. Open the menu on the left of the screen and go to 'My Sounds'
2. Scroll down to the 'Bookmarks' row
3. Select the episode you want to remove
4. Select the 'Bookmarked' button to remove the episode from your Bookmarks

Can you notify me when a new episode becomes available?

Yes, we can. If you subscribe to a programme or podcast in My Sounds, we’ll notify you on the Ģ��Ƶ website and mobile app when a new episode becomes available.

How will you notify me on the app?

New episode notifications are now available on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds mobile/tablet app. For more information on how they work, when you'll see them and how to manage them, have a look here: What notifications will I receive from the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app?

How will you notify me on the website?

At the top of the page (and to the right of your sign in name) you’ll see a bell – that’s the notification icon. If the notification icon has a blue dot beside it then a new episode of a programme or podcast you’ve subscribed to is available.

Just click on the notification icon to see a list of new episodes available. You can click to play the episode from this list.

You can switch notifications on and off, and select which notifications you want to see, by selecting the 'Settings' button on the top right of the notification screen.

What notifications will I receive from the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app?

We use notifications to let you know when new episodes of your favourite shows are available. We’ll also suggest programmes we think you’ll like. Our suggestions come from what you love to listen to in the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app, and from how you interact with all our services linked to your Ģ��Ƶ account.

How do notifications work for new episodes?

We will send a notification within 15 minutes of a new episode of a subscribed show becoming available on-demand. Tapping the notification will take you to the programme where you can select to listen to the latest episode.

If a new episode becomes available very late in the evening or overnight, we’ll send the notification in the morning to let you know.

How do I switch notifications on or off?

There’s a variety of options around where and how notifications are displayed on your phone or tablet. You can manage these on your device:

Amazon Fire: Go to Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Manage notifications > Ģ��Ƶ Sounds

Android: Go to Settings > Notifications > See all > Ģ��Ƶ Sounds

iOS: Go to Settings > Notifications > Ģ��Ƶ Sounds

Once you have enabled push notifications on the device, you can toggle them on and off in the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app. Tap on your initial on the top right of the homepage to access Settings, then select Notifications.

To stop getting notifications for a particular programme, you can unsubscribe to that programme. This won’t affect notifications for other subscribed shows, or recommendations.

Why am I not receiving notifications?

For new-episode notifications, check to make sure you’re subscribed to the show you’re interested in. For more information on subscribing, have a look here: How do I subscribe to a podcast or programme?

Check your Ģ��Ƶ account settings to see if you’ve switched off personalisation. You need to enable personalisation to receive notifications for Ģ��Ƶ Sounds. Head to the Using the Ģ��Ƶ website to find out how to check your personalisation settings.

Yes, you can!

When playing any on-demand programme on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds website or mobile/tablet app, you can choose the speed of the stream.

On the website

Start playing a programme. On the playback screen, click on the playback speed icon (the '1x' button) at the bottom, next to the Play Queue and Settings:
Choose from the six speed options available. When listening live, you can choose to slow the speed down, or rewind the stream to choose a faster playback speed. The playback speed icon will change to show the speed at which you're currently listening:

On the mobile/tablet app

Start playing any on-demand programme. Open the full playback screen (tap the black playback bar if the playback screen is minimised).
Tap on the playback speed icon ('1x' button)
Choose from the six speed options available. The playback speed icon will change to show the speed at which you're currently listening

It isn't possible to change the playback speed on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds TV app at the moment.

Yes, you can! You can line up your favourite programmes to listen to in your preferred order.

Where is the play queue?

When you're listening to any on-demand programme, you'll find the play queue by tapping the 'Queue' icon on the bottom right of the playback screen.

If you're listening to a series, the next episodes in the series will line up automatically, or you can add programmes and episodes to play next instead.

How do I add programmes to the queue?

Simply choose the show you'd like to add to the queue and tap the '...More' button. The first option in this menu will be 'Add to queue.' Once you've selected this, you'll see a confirmation message pop down from the top of the screen.

To get back to the queue, tap the black playback bar at the bottom of the screen to open the full-screen player, then tap on the queue icon.

Can I change the order of queue items?

Of course! You can move programmes up and down the play queue by pressing on the grey lines next to the episode. Keeping your finger on these, you can drag the episode up or down to where you would like it to be in the queue. To remove an item from the queue, simply 'swipe left.'

Will my queue always be available?

Your queue will be available while you're using the app and listening to on-demand programmes. Queues are recommended for daily or 'session' listening - they can't be saved for another day. If you choose to listen to a live stream, this will clear your current queue. Likewise, if the app is fully closed or is updated, your queue may be lost.

The Ģ��Ƶ Sounds widget will give you quick access to the schedule of your favourite Ģ��Ƶ Radio station so you can see what's on now and next at a glance. Tapping on the widget will launch the app on the full schedule.

How to add a widget:

Update the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds app . You’ll need to open the app at least once before the widget becomes available.
Hold your finger on any app or empty space on the home screen until your apps start jiggling.
Tap the Edit (or + sign) in the upper left corner.
Select 'Add Widget' and choose Ģ��Ƶ Sounds. Slide the widget left or right to choose which view you prefer, then select 'Add Widget' at the bottom to add it to your screen.

How to change Radio station for an existing Ģ��Ƶ Sounds widget:

Hold your finger on any app or empty space on the home screen (or Today View) until your apps start jiggling.
Tap the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds widget.
Click 'Edit Widget' and select your preferred Ģ��Ƶ Radio station.
Click outside of the Widget to confirm your selection.

How to change Radio station on the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds widget on the lock screen:

Long-press on the lock screen.
Select 'Customise.'
Select your lock screen. This will access the 'Edit' mode.
Tap the Ģ��Ƶ Sounds widget. Tap again to find the list of stations.
Select the station you'd like to show.
