Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis is today racing around the West Midlands to raise money for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Children in Need.

The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Midlands Today sports presenter is joined in the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Children in Need chariot by her colleague Ashley Blake as well as Pudsey Bear.

The mammoth Midlands fundraising effort involves dropping into as many of the region's schools as possible to film their events which will then feature on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Midlands Today on the night of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Children in Need (Friday 18 November from 6.30pm on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ ONE).

The fund-raising rally begins in Stoke and motors through Shropshire, the West Midlands, Coventry, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and, finally - phew! - Worcestershire.

Whether the schools are holding tea parties, a fancy dress day or having a cake sale for the annual event the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ team is joining in on the fun.

Ashley Blake says: "I'm very grateful that we have the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Children in Need chariot otherwise there's no way I could keep up with Denise!

"But I'm delighted to be taking part in this fantastic annual event again and look forward to meeting lots of kids in as many of the region's school yards as possible - it'll be great fun!"

The school that raises the most money for the charity will meet more of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Midlands Today team as well as being able to turn the tables on popular presenter Nick Owen, who has agreed to be interviewed by schoolchildren.

Other participating schools receive a special Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Children in Need Certificate, signed by Pudsey and the team, and a DVD featuring their activities.
