Pete Clifton has been appointed Head of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News Interactive.

The role is responsible for all of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News' interactive and on-demand services including the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News website, Ceefax and Digital Text, interactive television and broadband services such as the News Player which provides news clips on demand, online.

Helen Boaden, Director, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News, says: "As well as strong journalistic credentials, Pete will bring great creative leadership, together with knowledge and enthusiasm to the role."

Pete Clifton says:

Pete Clifton has been acting in the role since the Spring, when the former head, Richard Deverell, became the Chief Operating Officer for CÄ¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ, and is now permanently appointed.

Prior to his role as UK editor of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ News Website he was the Editor of Ceefax.

Outside the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ he was the chief sub on the Press Association's Sports desk for three years, a sports sub at the Exchange Telegraph agency, a news reporter and latterly the cricket correspondent at the Northampton Chronicle and Echo evening newspaper.
