The First Night of
the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Proms will be dedicated
to the victims of the London bombings of July 7 2005.

Planned well in advance of the attacks, the programme
includes Elgar's Overture Cockaigne - an affectionate turn-of-the-century
portrait of London's proud history and indomitable spirit - and Tippett's
highly personal response to injustice and man's inhumanity to man, A
Child of Our Time - two pieces made even more poignant by recent events.

Nicholas Kenyon, Director Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Proms, says: "In so many
ways the Proms represent the spirit of Londoners.

to dedicate this concert to victims and their families and to express
