An auction organised by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ WM to raise money for the Asian tsunami
appeal has added £2,500 to the Disasters Emergency Committee's coffers.
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ WM presenter Ed Doolan started proceedings and
bids soon started rolling in at the event held at Birmingham's Repertory
Theatre on Sunday 6 February.
The best offer received by auctioneers Biddle and Webb was £380 for
a tour behind-the-scenes at TV programme Fifth Gear, which also included
a drive with star presenter Tiff Needell.
£330 was paid for a pair of tickets to see every production held at
the Birmingham Rep for the coming year.
A life-size cardboard cut-out of Ed Doolan raised £100 for the appeal.
Ed said: "So soon after Christmas it's great to see the people of Birmingham
still turning out to donate money for this cause. We are a very generous
city."
Staff from Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ WM, the Birmingham Rep and Biddle and Webb, who gave
up their time to organise and run the event, were delighted by the response
and generosity of the bidders.
