
 New
editor for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio Leeds
The
new Managing Editor of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio Leeds has been appointed.
John
Ryan, previously responsible for marketing the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ's regional
TV, local radio and Where I Live website services, will be taking
over the position from Monday 19 January.
Mr
Ryan said: "I am delighted to be returning to Yorkshire where
I began my career with the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ. I am looking forward to working
with a fantastic team of broadcasters and making some great programmes
for the future."
Born
in Surrey, he began his career with the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in 1987 as a programme
assistant at Radio York and quickly became presenter of Drivetime.
A year
later, he left to head further north to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio Newcastle and
spent three years hosting the Breakfast programme before joining
the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ's Radio Training Unit as an instructor.
He
spent a further five years with Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio Lancashire and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Southern
Counties Radio before leaving to launch Canterbury's new commercial
radio station, 106 CTFM.
He
re-joined the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in 1999 when he became Editor of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Radio Northampton.
Colin
Philpott, head of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, said: "John
has extensive experience in radio, including the commercial sector.
That, together with his work in marketing, makes him ideally suited
to running a big city station like Radio Leeds."
