Six Nations back on terrestrial television with the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ


The entire Six Nations Championship is back on terrestrial television following Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Sport's successful bid for the championships.


The three year contract begins with the 2002-03 championships to be screened live on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Television, and includes all England's Twickenham games and England games in France for the first time since 1997.


Peter Salmon, Director of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Sport, said: "The Six Nations is an unique competition that brings the British Isles together, and we are delighted to have the whole championship back on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ.


"Our innovative new approach will help build the profile of this prestigious tournament and ensure fans can follow the tournament more easily.


"Working with the Six Nations Committee we want to create modern heroes in the sport, who will inspire current and future generations of fans and viewers, and we intend to use the full range of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ services and programmes to achieve this."


The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ bid included:
· Multi-media coverage on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Television including Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµi
· A Six Nations and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Sport partnership for rugby youth development
· The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ and the Six Nations Committee will work closely on match and television scheduling
· Dedicated programming in Six Nations Grandstand
· Related television programmes across Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ ONE and TWO
· A major increase in production investment
· Major grassroots initiatives, to encourage youngsters to become tomorrow's players and fans.
