Denmark Celebrates 2004 with Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime, the great British entertainment channel, experienced a viewership surge across Denmark as the nation crossed into New Year 2004.

In figures released today, viewership on Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime on New Year's Eve 2004 increased by 133% in Denmark compared to New Year's Eve 2003.

This covered the slot 22:00 to 07:00 during which British pop star Melanie C hosted a 40th anniversary edition of Top of the Pops, especially for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime, counting down favourite acts from the show as voted by viewers on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime website (). Viewership on the channel peaked just after the New Year at 00:15.

Viewership figures were also up compared to previous Wednesday ratings. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime viewership was 167% higher on New Year's Eve than the previous Wednesday, Christmas Eve.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Prime Head of Programming, David Weiland, said, "Top of the Pops is the leading, most established popular music programme across the world and its high profile line-up provided the perfect backdrop to New Year celebrations across Europe and Africa."

The number one Top of the Pops act of the past 40 years as voted by viewers was Abba, followed in second place by John Lennon.
