FeaturesYou are in: Jersey > My Island > Features > Read Dating ![]() So what's so great about War and Peace? Read DatingBy Claire Peters Could you find yourself a romance worthy of Mills and Boon at Jersey Library's 'Read Dating' event? Would you rather be tucked up at home with a good book than hunting down a potential suitor in a noisy, crowded bar? Does that leave you wondering how you’ll find your Mr Darcy (gentlemen - insert desirable literary heroine here) from behind the pages of your novels? ![]() Lynn Omissi said it would be "fairly phenomenal" Well, Jersey Library think they’ve come up with the answer which is somewhere between the two. They’re holding a special Read Dating event on Tuesday 12 February (just in time for Valentine’s Day). The concept is quite simple - you turn up and spend three minutes chatting to each member of the opposite sex extolling the virtues of one of your favourite reads. “It’s going to be fairly phenomenal I’m sure,” said Lynn Omissi from Jersey Library. “The idea is that you sell the book rather than yourself,” she explained. ![]() Love me, love my books “The aim is to promote reading, to prove that reading actually is quite good fun and to help people meet each other.” You might not find the love of you life, but you might discover a great new book to read – either way you could end up with something to curl up with on Valentine's Day! Tickets are limited and available from the Jersey Library in Halkett Place at a cost of £2.50 each. last updated: 31/01/2008 at 17:10 Have Your SayFind out more about the ĢƵ in Jersey |
