Never work with animals

Why not share your funny, weird or even wacky animal stories and photos with us and the island.

Roisin Guason

We’ve all seen the TV outtakes of presenters having all sorts done to them by their animal guests – from horny dogs to urinating elephants – the adage “never work with children or animals” often plays true.

But we also know the same sort of thing happens in ‘real’ life away from the box. From the special relationship a dog shares with the special teddy bear to the cat on the curtains.

Friendly pony

ĢƵ Spotlight Channel Islands own Roisin Gauson has had her share of run-ins with animals in the course of getting a story.

Two years ago at the Island Games in Rhodes Roisin had a run in with an over friendly Shetland pony that took a real shine to her.

It happened whilst visiting a farm on the island to film a behind the games report.

She turned her back and before she knew it the small creature had both hooves on her back and wanted to become affectionate.

Fortunately she escaped unhurt with just a pair of dirty jeans carrying some pretty impressive hoof marks.

The love of a dog

Well a similar thing has happened again. This time it was while out filming a Drag Hunt in Jersey.

One of the large dogs decided it would get up close and personal with Roisin while she was interviewing one of the people taking part in the hunt.

Over to you

We’ve shared our stories so why not send your ‘friendly animal’ pictures and stories for the island to hear and watch. You can also send us short video clips as well.
