Make your own salad in a jar
Follow these super simple instructions to make your own colourful salad in a jar. Don't forget, you can put any of your favourite veggies in the salad, just make sure to give them a wash first!
You can also adapt this tutorial to make a colourful fruit salad in a jar - just use a mixture of brightly coloured fruits instead of vegetables.
This salad is a great opportunity to let kids experiment with their food, encourage healthy eating and introduce new flavours. If you're having trouble encouraging your little one to eat new things, read our how to handle children’s fussy eating guide.

Step-by-step instructions
1. Wash out a large empty plastic or glass jar. Make sure it has a tight fitting lid.
2. Get a grown-up to cut up different coloured vegetables on a chopping board.
3. Add your vegetables to the jar to make different coloured layers.
4. Shake the jar gently after each layer to make space for the next layer.
5. Secure the lid tightly so that you can eat your salad later!
Top tip: Drizzle on salad dressing at the end if you want to add more flavour!
